Notes:
- Possible Notorious Monster encountered during a Liquidation Team maze with Lizard Rune and Great Warrior Rune applied.
- It is possible these are the only two runes necessary for him to appear, and the other runes only make the fight harder and, in theory, increase the drop rate.
- Koggelmander: For this item to appear in the Hoardbox, the Lost and Found rune must be set within the Maze Tabula in use. (See Koggelmander article for more information on Tabula Setup)
- Known setup with confirmed drop is Maze Tabula M03 + Maze Voucher 07 + Maze Rune 005 + Maze Rune 013 (on the earth location) + Maze Rune 017 + Maze Rune 018 + Maze Rune 041 + Maze Rune 075 + Maze Rune 094
- Setting Maze Rune 016 alters tp move effects, Heavy Bellow becomes AoE stun, Baleful Gaze gives Petrify and resets hate, Tusk does heavy dmg with large knockback believed to be conal or maybe just frontal multi target will also go through upto 2 shadows, other tp moves get dmg boost and remove multiple shadows with the exception of Scutum unknown if stillness alters it in any way
- Mob seems weak to magic and highly resistant to melee. (Well geared thief hit for 1 to 0)
- Uses (Without Maze Rune 016 equiped)
- Accuracy is horrible at first but, seems to get a boost at 50% HP and 25% HP. Attack power also increases.
- Can be slept with Elemental Seal
- Notes for Blue Mages
- Head Butt is largely ineffective as a stun with a relatively low proc rate on the NM. This most likely correlates to how tough he is as weaker versions of the NM were able to be stunned more frequently with Head Butt.
- Temporal Shift is an effective stun mechanism on him despite the long recast time. It is very useful for giving a chance for a tank to be healed or get shadows back up after a large damage tp move.
Historical Background
In Maori mythology, taniwha are creatures that reside in deep waters or dark caves. The seafaring versions are described like whales or sharks while the land-faring versions are described like lizards (geckos and tuataras [a lizard order that is a relic of a group that existed 200 million years ago]), but as large as whales. They were sometimes considered as guardians of certain tribes and the tribe would appease them with offerings of food. They are dangerous to members of other tribes.
