Troubadour

From FFXIclopedia, the free Final Fantasy XI encyclopedia

Job Ability

  • Game Description: Increases the casting time of songs by 1.5 and doubles the effect duration
  • Obtained: Bard by Merit Points at Level 75
  • Recast Time: 0:20:00 (-0:02:30 minutes for every additional merit)
  • Duration: 0:01:00

Notes/Description

  • Stacks with Nightingale.
  • Works on both enhancing songs and enfeebling songs.
  • This does not work like Soul Voice, but it does stack with it.
  • This ability increases the duration of a song to twice its normal duration.
  • Maximum recast reduction through merits is 0:10:00.
  • Songs will appear as "Has no effect" on the user if the effect of Troubadour are still high in effect.
  • You may not cast the same song over an existing song to refresh the timer with troubadour. Example: You use troubadour and cast ballad one and ballad two. You cast ballads again before troubadour wears off, those songs will not receive a refreshed timer.
  • A popular use for Troubadour is having a Bard set their support job as Black Mage to combine Elemental Seal and Troubadour in order to land Elegy on a resistant monster for a very long duration. (Approximately 7 Minutes)
  • Another useful way to use this ability is to combine it with Soul Voice. Since Soul Voice lasts for 3 minutes and most party buffs (such as Minuet and Ballad) last approximately 2 minutes, it is possible to extend the duration of a "Soul Voiced" buff from 4 minutes to 6 minutes. To do this, the Bard must make sure all songs finish casting before both the Troubadour and Soul Voice buffs wear off.
  • Example: Use Soul Voice then cast two party songs, such as Ballad. When they wear off, soul voice will have been in effect for 2 minutes, with 1 minute left before it wears off. Use Troubadour and recast both Ballads. Since they were finished casting before Soul Voice wore off, they will be "Soul Voiced" for the remaining 4 minutes until they ultimately wear off.
  • Another good use of this ability, is to sleep enemy avatars during events like Dynamis. 60+ second sleep time is usually a long enough time for damage dealers and mages to kill enemy summoners.

Macro Syntax
