Who is Spops+
Leaving the World of Vana d'ielJust wanted to give everyone an update. I am sure that many of you have been wondering why I have not been around this site much recently. The answer to that is I have decided to leave the world of Vana d'iel. After about 2 years of straight game play there just was not enough new content to keep me around. I really had high hopes that WoG would renew my interest in the game. But the sheer lack of content for it really turned me away. I still can not get over the fact that it has taken SE over 7 months to finally add new missions for this expansion pack. In my eyes it looks like SE just may be pulling resources away from this game. I believe that they reported that there user base is only 500,000 content id's currently. I have turned my character over to an in game friend to use. I still have full access to the character if I so decide to hop on. I am still interested to see how the WoG story turns out. So I may go on to do the WoG missions with my friend. As far as the future of Spops... The name will live on as my PS3 user ID, feel free to add me if you want to keep in touch. Spops will however return to SE's next MMORPG whenever that comes out. I have really high hopes for that game and can't wait to hear more information about it. /em crosses fingers that they give us information at E3. I will still try and be as active as I can with this community. I have come to know many of you, and this is an excellent community. I will help out on the wiki and forums any way that I can.
How I got my nameMany people say what is a “Spops”? What does it mean? So let me explain… Before starting out my adventures in Vana'diel I was addicted to the game SOCOM for the Playstation 2. When I first started SOCOM I thought of this awesome name: Sp.Ops. Sp.Ops was of course short for Special Operations. What I found out though was that everyone in game would just call me Spops. So when I first purchased FFXI I thought long and hard about what kind of quirky name I could come up with. I finally decided why not just use Spops, it sounded like an odd enough name for Final Fantasy. So Spops it was How long I have been playing forI started out my adventures in Vana d’iel in November 2004. Back than I played on the Bahamut server. I did not make it very far into the game because I did not have a lot of free time back than. I think I ended up with having RDM, WHM, BLM to 15. Unfortunately in March of 2005 I was moving and just did not have time for the game anymore. So I was forced to quit. In October 2006 I decided that I wanted to get back into the game, I really did miss it. So I signed back up again and created my character. This time I ended up in the Seraph server. I have been playing ever since.
What got me into this gameWhen FFXI was finally released in the U.S.A. in 2004 it came bundled with the HDD for the PS2. The prospect of a Final Fantasy game online really intrigued me. But once I heard that it would cost me $12.95 a month, I said forget this. I was not about to pay a monthly fee. A few months after the HDD’s release Zipper started to release some new maps for SOCOM 2 through the Playstation Magazine. The catch was you needed a HDD to save them. At first I said no to purchasing the PS2 HDD because of the cost ($99.99). Than my brother and a friend who I played SOCOM with picked up the HDD just for SOCOM maps. So me, not wanting to feel left out followed suit and picked up the HDD. I figured what the hell, at least now I could “try” out FFXI. However it did not take me long to realize that I enjoyed the game. My time in Vana’dielMajority of my time is spent in Experience parties trying to get that next level. I am active in a Dynamis shell, and looking to pimp out my RDM in full Relic. My shell does 2 runs a week, and I am usually there for both runs. Other than that I enjoy working on the missions of the game.
