I totally understand your point, but for editing it will only take a few seconds longer to find where to put the NM with a full list, but for every one person that edits it there are probably 50 people looking at it. So it's better to make it convenient for the 50 people rather than the 1 person.

Mainly because it was a reference to an unidentified IP address - which can often be spam or vandalism. We also typically discourage the posting of external links for that reason. If there is a good web address for that site it should probably go on the Links page under "maps & camps".
