Edit summaries

The Resale Template is new, so not all pages will have it yet. The ones with values specifically. No need to have edit summaries like "Learn to use templates". Thanks --CharitwoTalk 00:37, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

Sorry about that, the edit summary wasn't intended to be patronising--Anthoron 00:44, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

Replacing images

Do not replace images that do not improve the quality, I noticed a handful of your uploads either made the quality worse or the same. Crisp, clear non-transparent replacements only, please. Thanks. --CharitwoTalk 00:57, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

The quality of my replacements should not be worse---all of them were saved them at maximum quality and there shouldn't be any visible artifacts. The background isn't very smooth... but that's how it looks in-game.--Anthoron 01:06, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
The ones shown in the upload log as reverted showed no visible improvement, perhaps something went wrong with the upload. --CharitwoTalk 01:18, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
I've noticed that it sometimes takes the wiki a bit to display the new image (and shows a skewed version of the old one). If there wasn't a problem with my other uploads, then I suspect something like that was happening.--Anthoron 01:28, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
Double-checked the updated filepath, and it still displayed that way. Odd. --CharitwoTalk 01:35, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
I've re-uploaded Image:Hirenjaku Plus 1.jpg. If you're seeing it with a transparent bg, then something weird is happening.--Anthoron 01:55, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
Seems fine now, shrug. Dunno what happened. --CharitwoTalk 01:58, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

How would I change the file quality when i saved it at the highest I could for a jpg? I used PS to finish taking out the image. I think it looks alright, just curious is all.--Kadengt 23:49, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

How did you obtain the original? There's grain around the text.--Anthoron T/ C 00:33, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Please make sure that no mainspace pages link to images before marking them for deletion, the witch sash image was also tied to someone's guide. --CharitwoTalk 08:07, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Image quality

You have marked 2 of my recent image uploads as low quality. I would like to correct the problem if I can, I still have the original screenshots, and would be able to crop them again and save as a better quality. I'm just unsure of what would be considered good quality. --scynscapa 21:22, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

The problem is just grain around the text, caused by too much compression (see Image:Image Grain Example.jpg for a particularly bad example). Unfortunately, Microsoft Paint and the Windows Photo Gallery (the tools that come with Windows) don't give you any choice and save poor quality images. You'll need to use a tool that lets you choose the quality of saved files (you want to set it at maximum); Paint.NET is a great free tool for this.--Anthoron T/ C 23:25, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

Patroller

Per a discussion amongst myself and the other admins, we've agreed that you deserve the right of Patroller for your contributions here. All your edits will be auto-patrolled (meaning we don't need to check them, you make good edits), you can patrol the edits of others (notice the red ! in recent changes) to ensure they are correct and vandalism free, if so you may choose to [mark as patrolled]. If you see vandalism or other bad faith edits, you also have the ability to roll them back, as can be found on diff, contributions, and history pages. Congrats and thanks for everything you do around here. --GAHOO t/ c 12:30, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

Augmented Items

Augmented Items...why do you keep changing the image sub-text to indicate a Gold Ring and its Augmented stats...when you left the image as an Augmented Beetle Mask? - Hiachi 12:52, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

The Image (Image:Augment-example.jpg) should be of a Gold Ring, and not a Beetle Mask. If you're still seeing a Beetle Mask, then I suspect there's some caching issues somewhere.--Anthoron T/ C 13:25, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

Speedy Moves

Is this how it appears in inventory?, which it as why it may have been created that way. If so, don't slap a smove on it, move it yourself you lazy bum! --CharitwoTalk 19:11, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

Ooo, I didn't see the new button there--I tend to just use the shortcut keys, so I don't look up there. I'll double-check the inventory name when I get a chance and move it.--Anthoron T/ C 01:00, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, we decided it was a feasible idea to add the move ability to patrollers since such a large version update is approaching and sometimes when new content is added en masse, editors don't always following naming conventions or make small typos or otherwise require a speedy move.
In response to your question, no it's not possible (at this time). In the upcoming MediaWiki upgrade happening in the next 2 weeks, users that can delete will have the option not to make a redirect. However, for those who won't have this available, or until the upgrade...simply mark the old page for speedy deletion after checking to make sure all links have been updated to the new location. --CharitwoTalk 16:54, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

Hold off on moving key items due to case, please. Thanks. --CharitwoTalk 16:29, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

Sure thing, but... why? Wouldn't it be better to correct the names before lots of links are made to incorrectly named pages?--Anthoron T/ C 23:24, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
Because we are revisiting key item conventions, nothing has been decided yet however. --CharitwoTalk 23:31, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

Borer Beetle

Hmmm? --CharitwoTalk 11:18, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

My parser, it lies! ... or shouldn't be used when two parties are camping kinda close to each other >_> --Anthoron T/ C 11:35, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

Information Removal

Why did you remove potentially-useful information in the following edits? For things you marked as "clean up" or "moving" information, it still looks like the info is now simply gone.

It would help if you could give a bit more explanation, in future revision check-in comments. Thanks. --Alephnot 20:15, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

  1. Movalpolos outpost teleportation doesn't exist, the information was wrong.
  2. I only removed one line from the Hall of Binding article because it didn't make a lot of sense (and would be obvious to anyone in there at the time).
  3. There was information that was duplicated several times over on the page and duplicated information from other pages (such as Dedication and the guard locations).
  4. The information about the enchantment belongs on the enchantment page, not duplicated on the item page; and information about obtaining/rechanging should be obvious to anyone who knows how Rare or Enchanted items work.
--Anthoron T/ C 00:38, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
  1. You didn't provide any reason for removing the information, so it's easy to mistake it for carelessness or vandalism.
  2. The information did make sense, and it might well be interesting to someone who is not currently in there. The point of an information resource like this is to collect and provide information, not make everyone find it all out, themselves.
  3. The Dedication page does not have the information you removed, and it's not currently clear whether it remains anywhere. The right place for information about how to get the most value out of an Empress Band is on the Empress Band page, or on a very clearly linked guide.
  4. One of the things you removed was this: "Only one anniversary ring can be obtained per year during the Adventurer Appreciation Campaign. You must dispose of the previous year's ring before you can obtain a new one." This does not belong on the enchantment page, and it has nothing to do with "how Rare or Enchanted items work". It is, however, very interesting information (which is why SE stated it).
Please be more careful with your edits. Thanks.
--Alephnot 19:52, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
How is it not obvious that if you're in the Hall of Binding, you can use the door to get out? And how is it news that you can't recharge an enchanted item, or have to discard a rare item in order to obtain another?--Anthoron T/ C 00:05, 4 July 2009 (UTC)
Tahn here. Some of the item removed from the Anniversary Ring page by you is data that is specific to the item and didn't have to be removed (though it doesn't add much to the page); I added the information you "moved" but neglected to place on the enchantment page. Hopefully that ties up any loose ends with these disputes.Tahngarthortalk-contribs 04:21, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
  1. This issue appears to be resolved.
  2. Seeing as how you didn't change much, I don't see what your issue is with the change, Alephnot.
  3. If you both have issues with how the information should appear on any page, take it up on the respective talk pages so other people can input, rather than fight about it amongst yourselves here.
  4. Same here.

Also, it is a good idea to utilize the edit summary whenever possible, to avoid conflicts like this in the future. It would really be a pain if I had to enable forced edit summaries in order to save a page. Please be responsible and civil editors, both of you. --CharitwoTalk 01:27, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

The reason I didn't revert some of the edits was because I was Assuming Good Faith (i.e. being a "responsible and civil editor"). --Alephnot 20:27, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
Responsible, maybe. Civil, no. Not from what I can see in this conversation. A lot of editors get so used to editing that they become comfortable and complacent with their own edits, and we sometimes assign a right that prevents us from having to check them in the first place, because they seemingly know what they're doing and end up omitting edit summaries. Though I can see where this can sometimes cause confusion, and have persons sometimes asking "What is this guy doing?". --CharitwoTalk 20:59, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

Moogle Japery

I noticed you did a cleanup of the Moogle's Japery article. Did you have a reason for removing the line that explains that you need to be outside of town (not inside) to gain the extension to food effect duration? Or was this an mistake as part of cleanup? --Chrisjander t/ c 19:30, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

It must've been a mistake, I don't see why I would've removed that bit. I've added it back in.--Anthoron T/ C 17:01, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

A knight's test

I am level 40 and still aggroed needing S/I. People in my LS were in the same party with me - some 65 and above and still aggroed without S/I. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Pancakelizard (talkcontribs).

The mobs in Davoi on the route to the well are level 30~40, some of those may check as EP to 65. I completed the quest at 75 and everything on the path was too weak.--Anthoron T/ C 17:01, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Thanks!

Thanks for that catch on Thunder III, copy/paste booboo. --CharitwoTalk 06:46, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

Template:Quest

The main reason I changed it is so the wiki stays mostly consistant during the conversion to the template; It's a rather noticable change, so it would be better to do it all at once when the template is fully implemented, rather than bit by bit. As for the aesthetics of two versions - I prefer the old look, but I don't hate the new look. It can always be discussed when the template is fully implemented if there's a split opinion about it. ~ Karuberu 19:59, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

See [[1]]. I've relaxed the protection for you to make the necessary changes. Nice job! --GAHOO t/ c 17:18, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

Pankration/Pit Monsters

Why were the equations removed from Pankration/Pit Monsters? Base FP is the amount of FP at level 0, as defined by the equation. Otherwise the it wouldn't work (work through the equation on any mob, you'll see what I mean. Its also easier to see the calculation of starting level when its written as MAX(1; level/10) or whatever was there. Note that I didn't write the equations, just found the page more helpful the way it was. The parts for Feral Skills and Feral Points are nice, but since this isn't the main pankration page I don't think they need broken out. Just my thoughts; the page has been like that for many months now. --ShadowsFell 03:24, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

I felt that the equation for FP is well-described in the text (knowing the base FP and FP/level gain from the table, it should be very straightforward to calculate the FP at any level). However, I'll work them back into the text.--Anthoron T/ C 03:41, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
Well, it CAN be, as long as its described as base FP is defined as how much FP a mob would have at level 0 (not lvl 1). level 1 is the first "growth" level; if growth is 0.5 per level, and base fp is 20, lvl 1 would be 20.5 fp, level 2 would be a full 21. --ShadowsFell 03:53, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
Feel free to write it however you want, it does look nicer; just want to make sure the meaning is clear, with no misunderstanding --ShadowsFell 03:56, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
Ahh, I see now... starting at level 0 didn't make much sense to me initially.--Anthoron T/ C 04:10, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
Yep, I hear ya. You really have to dig down into the numbers and see how it works to have it make sense. Ironically, I'm working on beetles now, who seem to have a base fp of 55, and then 56 @ 2, 57 @ 4, 58 @6, etc. just confirming with a few more soul plates before i edit the main page to show the numbers for them. --ShadowsFell 04:26, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

Drops

While we will continue to butt heads on this, i think it is highly relevant to include the detail that this particular monster can drop more than one of the weapons. As such i believe my point it still valid. The behavior of these drops is therefor similar not dissimilar to HNM's not normal NM's. Ergo the pool of droppable items is in fact not one common pool but instead 3 separate pools akin to the BCNM layout. Ergo pool1: Drops Zero to one of, Pool 2 Drops zero to one of etc. I hope you can concede the point that it is not normal for non-HNm type monster to drop multiple Rare items, and yes you are correct Pad foot is most certainly an exception, but i think tres is as well. Additionally when the multiple drops loaded we had no TH. so you tell me whats going on here. Milotheshort 16:21, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

  • I don't see the parallel between HNMs and Tres. What characteristic of HNMs are you refering to?
  • It doesn't make sense to talk about most NMs having "pools" of items; the number of items that drops is simply determined by the number of items that drop, not some secondary pool calculation (as it most likely is with BCNMs). There's no competition for a certain number of "drop slots" or anything like that here.
  • I don't see what being "rare" has to do with it, there are plenty of NMs that drop multiple unique items or multiple rare/ex items.
  • TH has nothing to do with it.

Marking pages/redirects for deletion

Please ensure no non-userspace pages link to a page before marking them for deletion. --CharitwoTalk 04:30, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

I did, but I couldn't find the link to "Rogue's Culotte" anywhere on that page. The only reference to them is in the Treasure Coffer transclusion (which has been updated).--Anthoron T/ C 04:53, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
I figured out what it was... when pages are transcluded onto other pages, and a link is updated on it, the page its trancluded on must also be null edit saved (no changes), to clear the link. --CharitwoTalk 07:52, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
Hmmm... strange that's not covered by ?action=purge.--Anthoron T/ C 07:59, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

Reversion of Edits

In the edit history for Assualts, an change was undone citing discussion necessary to change administrative changes. Discussion on Assault "Discussion" page has been updated with reasoning as to why the changes were reverted. Please discuss. --Milamber 19:21, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Hi

You haven't been active very much lately and I was wondering if you were still interested in contributing to the wiki. --CharitwoTalk 23:24, October 14, 2009 (UTC)
