Question

I think this is what I'm supposed to do if I want to contact someone with power not about a rule violation *ish scared* Please don't yell at me if it isn't... >_<;

Since the embedded chat room no longer seems to work... what about a third party irc chat room such as MIRC? I'm sure plenty of us would be happy to get talking to our fellow FFXIclopedia community members once again. --Lordshadow 21:00, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

Your tone

You need to work on your tone. I'm trying to fix the problem you brought up, and your bad attitude isn't helping. If there's a reason you're being that way, please explain. ~ Karuberu 14:01, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

Drop Rate Template

Thanks for the heads up! I'll stop editing the zone pages now. It's actually quite a relief... I panicked when I realized all the mobs show up in two places, and dreaded having to edit both anyway. Fiorenzo 16:07, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

Link

Can you update the link for Hydra on Empire's Most Wanted 2 to reflect it to the moved page? --ЩåΫķẮ †Talk† 03:59, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Wild Carrot

it's adequately represented on the Days of the Week article I believe. We don't list that kind of info on "Cure III", so why Wild Carrot? It's one of those "it's been around long enough to be self evident" things. --Chrisjander t/ c 21:27, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Japanese sysop on ja.ffxi

Hi, Charitwo

My friend, User:Tommy6, became a sysop on ja.ffxi. May I make him a sysop on the wiki? --Yukichi / Shun (Talk) @Wikia 07:13, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

Nice to meet you

Hi, Charitwo. I'm Tommy6,a native japanese editor of ja-FFXIclopedia. I'm making many new articles to enrich the ja-FFXIclopedia now(It has less than 100 articles, so few.). I'm aiming at becoming the sysop as a native japanese speaker.--Tommy6 17:03, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

"move" feature

On ja.ffxi, "move" feature is disabled for normal users. Why? If possible, please enable this feature. Or tell me whom to talk. --Yukichi / Shun (Talk) @Wikia 18:11, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Edits of "Hauptseite"

Hi Charitwo - before the wikia-move I was able (as Patroller) to edit the german mainpage (Hauptseite). Since then I'm no more able to do that (only "view source"), so I couldn't bring in the playonline-news like on the english pages - do you have the rights to enable me again?--Calvagh 12:07, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

thx for caring about that problem - I'll prepare the german page so that it can be updatet as soon as I (or someone other) is able to edit the german mainpage--Calvagh 12:06, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
uff... I'm overwhelmed - thank you for lining up this stunning promotion!!--Calvagh 20:05, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
sure, I'm looking for linking pages - but thanks for reminding !--Calvagh 20:48, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

Reverted template?

I'm a bit confused as to why my change to the Monster template was reverted. --Zeno 23:25, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

Hm, what's the job queue? --Zeno 23:51, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
Ah okay, that's what I thought. I had linked the text because not everyone knows what the terms mean. Mainly new players. And if you try to lookup "Aggressive" for example, nothing will come up: There is no page titled "Aggressive". You can create this page. --Zeno 00:09, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Redundant Code

Excluding the width="50%", the code I was removing is redundant with the default values, and the width="50%" is fairly pointless. There's a chance the width="50%" was put there to fix some issues at different resolutions or something, but considering the code's age, I'd say it's a slim chance. Did you see an issue when I removed it? Oh, and sorry for removing some code right after you left a comment about it; I only saw that after I had changed it. ~ Karuberu 00:45, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

Alright, it's not a big deal either way. It'd save the site some space, that's all. ~ Karuberu 01:16, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

It's instant but it was an accident. But stay tuned ;)

Goblin Wolfman / Unstable Cluster

Cool cool, Understood. I'll do that going forward, as I can. But in this weekend's runs, I didn't really track the random junk drops. Just adding what I can. --Zaine 01:54, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

Naming of new pages

So what you are saying is that it should be Right Map Piece, even though in game it shows it as Right map piece? --Spops™ t/ c 17:21, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

Yes. --CharitwoTalk 17:23, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
Just making sure, I never knew that before...But i do now...Thanks! :)--Spops™ t/ c 17:29, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
Please delete this Pure white feather page. I had made it before you told me the correct way. I have already updated the Pure White Feather new page. --Spops™ t/ c 16:02, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

"can't have more than 100%"

I noticed the last couple of edits on the Tremor Ram page, which dealt with the Drop Rate displaying more than 100%. Based on what was said here, I don't think that data should've been eliminated. You may want to discuss the matter on that page. --Ivrai 20:50, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

Category:Missions

I think we need another section under Category:Missions for campaign--Spops™ t/ c 21:55, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

What's the W stand for?

I don't know. That is how it appears in my mission log. (Wiki doesn't have a PM function does it...)--Lito 06:55, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

Instead of Private Message it's Public lol. Who do I ask to create a Category:Campaign section?--Lito 07:01, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
I think the "W" means It's a Windurst Mission. I started it again and the "W" wasn't in the list but showed up under mission list --Lito 08:20, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

Djinn mobs.

These bomb-related mobs, like Snolls, share some TP moves with Bombs, but likewise have their own unique set of TP moves. I forgot the name, but when fighting one, it used a TP move that ignore shadows and gave everyone within AoE and 8hp/tic Bio effect. on top of that it's Self-Destruct move also has a new name. I think it needs a category page of its own just like the Bombs and Snolls were seperated. --Mitsukai-Hawke 08:29, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

Well, since WotG has come out, I've tried to study as many of the new mobs as I can so as to update their TP Move information onto the wiki. While I study the Djinn, where do you want their TP moves to be listed? --Mitsukai-Hawke 08:37, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

Hey I am sorry I didn't see your message ; ; I didn't mean to start a edit war :/ I just read somewhere that the plural of Djinn was Djinni. --Ash 00:47, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

"User" image

You uh.. deleted an image I uploaded for the Stage 5 Relics page as verification that Sezy has a Gjallarhorn. I'm not Sezy. I don't even have a userpage. I wish you waited a couple of minutes even before deleting it. Would you prefer that I hosted the image elsewhere or under a different name? Or that I add a summary? --Ivrai 23:00, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

Cait Sith disambig.

Hola! I just wanted to explain why I added the disambig tag on Cait Sith. Although it does link to the mission page, I figured it'd still get those few people who wouldn't pay much attention to it, not to mention before it had the #REDIRECT command on it, pages might not be caught up to it. But if you feel its fine without it, then so it shall be! Just wanted to explain my thinking, it's all good either way. Have a good evening! --Snojoex 05:05, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

Campaign Battles/Special Ops

I will look at putting them together but I think they are fairly different. The battles are more akin to Besieged while the Special Ops are like Assault. Let me look at it though and try to figure out how to get them mushed together.--Meara 16:52, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

Strategy Guides

Can we make our own and post them on this site? If so how do we create one?--Cloppy 04:05, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

A new plan of the character introduction

I am planning a new way of introduction of the FFXI's character in place of User's Box(It is vertical long,so it is hard to see.) now. A sample is ja:FFXIclopedia:コミュニティ・ポータル/SSadmirers/Tommy6. What do you think of it?--Tommy6 15:23, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

Assault Template

Yeah, Firefox and I were having an epic struggle yesterday. Apparently I lost. >.> Thought I might have done something to the template, but I thought I reversed it. Ah well. Thanks ^^
--aTTiLa t/ c 14:20, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

Also, I may have figured out part of the problem. When I edit my Assault Checklist on my user page, if I click to edit the section, as opposed to the entire page, it appears to redirect me to editing the template. Is this normal behavior?
--aTTiLa t/ c 15:02, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

User Pages

I promise this should be the last one for a bit, but if anything this may give me a better understanding of how this works. Your Sandbox pages (for instance) have a link at the top of the page that links directly back to your main page. I have a few pages I have made that do not incorporate this feature, and I'm curious as to the difference. Examples being Click Here! and Me Too! Thanks for the assistance.
--aTTiLa t/ c 15:22, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

Re: Assault Template
I was going to do the same thing, just hadn't gotten around to it yet. Thanks for that. ^^
Re: User Subpages Also, thanks for moving my sub pages. Can't believe I missed that...

Problem reports

You're going to have to be a lot more specific. There were multiple reports, and I closed a number of them. Of the ones I closed, one was completely bogus, one was already fixed, and I can't remember the others. --Chrisjander t/ c 06:30, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

There, fixed. Next time just ask. --Chrisjander t/ c 06:47, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Too bad I can't do it myself! --CharitwoTalk 06:51, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Reverting without comment

Why do you constantly revert valuable (and certainly at least well-intentioned) edits without even so much as an explanation in the change comment? It seems very strange for me to be have to point this out to an "administrator", but doing such things actually undermines the community that this (and any) wiki is supposed to foster. --Alephnot 23:35, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Did you even look at the Scholar page, before or after you saved changes to it? You have now made the sections be as follows:

8 - Artifact Equipment
8.1 - Scholar Guides
8.2 - Notes

It sure looks to me like that's making things worse, not better, but if it makes any sense to you, please explain it to me. --Alephnot 04:05, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

There should not be a TOC displaying. --CharitwoTalk 04:28, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

I'm not referring to any TOC; I'm referring to the numbers displayed in the section headings, in the article, itself. They are currently as I've listed them, above.

As for patrolling edits, I'm not against it--in fact, I see value in ensuring that content quality is preserved--but it needs to be done diplomatically. Well-intentioned editors need to be treated politely and with respect, not like vandals. Maybe the "Patroller Revert" function should be reserved for cases which need no explanation (like vandalism), and the other options for reverting (which do allow an explanation) could be used in the other cases. --Alephnot 06:08, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

Cullinarian's Sign

I would have to agree with you. I just clicked the link off of the cooking page. Can you please correct the spelling, or would you like me to just create a new page and put a {SDelete} tag on the old one?--Spops™ t/ c 15:17, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

Not a problem, I will try and be more careful when clicking on dead links to edit them. I have to say you have a good eye for catching the problems ^^ --Spops™ t/ c 15:29, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

Same here lol. My favorite thing to fix is pages where people just write text. They don’t even attempt to format it at all. I just usually go through the Format Stubs page to fix things. --Spops™ t/ c 15:56, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

Thought you might find this interesting. I just found the page that listed the .DAT info. According to the page it is spelled Cullinarian's Sign. Wonder if it was just a typo by SE that they will correct before the item is officially out. --Spops™ t/ c 17:26, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

I agree and was not asking for it to be reverted back, just thought it was interesting. I am however going to use the descriptions from that page for all of the sign pages I am creating. If that ends up being incorrect I can fix it once the items are released --Spops™ t/ c 17:34, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

Template:SMove

Take a look at this and see if you think it is something good to use. Note that it is only for misspellings and naming conventions issues. For those two reasons only I think it would be better to use this tag since it does not necessarily require a talk page for the simple moves. Reword anything if you think it needs it. --ЩåΫķẮ †Talk† 01:43, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Notice

Leave it. --Chrisjander t/ c 19:39, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

did it work yet?

im not trying to be a pain just computer illiterate i guess. Have i done it correctly? (Guy trying to upload his damn profile pic)

NPCs

I haven't found the correct ones for the new zones yet (still looking through them, I think they are written slightly different) but I can send you a list of all the other zones soon. --ЩåΫķẮ †Talk† 04:09, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

Ok I found the files for the new zone listings (weird in this version they put them in the ROM directory instead of ROM5) so if you want me to go create name only pages of NPCs and what zone they are listed in let me know, I'll just stub everything. --ЩåΫķẮ †Talk† 04:47, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

Sure I will probably put one info needed tag under the race field since I can't tell race by the names other than hyphenated taru names. --ЩåΫķẮ †Talk† 04:53, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

Campaign NMs

I've begun adding under monster families the "Campaign NMs" sub description like "Quest NMs" Hope that's cool --Lordshadow 18:17, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Ahh, understood. (TH Article)

Thanks, alright I'll do that right now. I'll go ahead and throw those sources in the talk page. --ShamayaAsura 19:05, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Re: Ribbons

Yes I'm positive it's "∮" and not "§", although I completely agree that using the contour integral symbol makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. The raw Shift_JIS encoded value in the .dat file is 0x8793 which maps to Unicode value U+222E: CONTOUR INTEGRAL. http://www.microsoft.com/GLOBALDEV/Reference/dbcs/932/932_87.mspx [i.ɺjo.kɯ]TC 17:42, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

Looks like "∮". --GAHOO t/ c 18:04, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
I see it displayed as "§ §", which is what it maps to in the character map as and what value it's assigned to in the DATs. --CharitwoTalk 18:08, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
I'm confused Chari. You said that U+222E appears as § (section sign) on the page I linked to? the page uses an image to show the characters, so there's no possibility for incorrect display. The section sign is essentially 2 S's stacked on top of each other, and does not appear on that page. The contour integral is the integral symbol (∫) with a small circle overlaid on top. Also, I can't really tell what you were trying to say. Are you suggesting that the ribbons be moved to [[Bronze Ribbon of Service ∮]], [[Brass Ribbon of Service ∮∮]], etc? [i.ɺjo.kɯ]TC 18:20, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
I'm beginning to think that perhaps U+222E(∮) is not being displayed correctly on your computer(s). Which would explain why you think that U+00A7(§) looks closer to the symbol. The two characters have a similar shape at small font sizes, and in fact neither of them make any sense in the context SE used them in. If you agree that the correct codepoint is in fact U+222E, then the discussion on what the symbol looks like is somewhat moot, as one can just use the character map in windows and copy whatever character is at U+222E. However if need be I can extract the symbols as shown in the FFXI font from the .dats and post them for comparison. [i.ɺjo.kɯ]TC 20:27, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
Ok, yes, If you are seeing a box then your computer is not displaying the character correctly. it should look like this: http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/222E/index.htm [i.ɺjo.kɯ]TC 20:27, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
OK sounds good. This brings up a good point though. The correct character is not very common and as such is not included in many fonts. Anyone who has MS Office installed, has Japanese support enabled or is running Windows Vista should have a font installed that includes the contour integral symbol. Most other people probably wont and will see a box or question mark as you did. I personally fall into all of the previous categories and have about 6 fonts that include "∮" and when I made the changes to the pages it didn't occur to me that others couldn't see it. I guess it comes down to a choice: 1.use the correct symbol (∮) and accept that many people will not be able to see it or 2.use a substitute (§) which is incorrect but nearly universally supported. [i.ɺjo.kɯ]TC 21:29, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

QQ

Did you delete that huge subpage I had in my userpage? You know, you could have asked if I was really leaving. (I'm positive I won't have much to do with FFXIclopedia anymore, but you never know.)

And I was late because I was deciding what I should do. You guys are lucky I'm not immature enough to resort to any mass-vanadalizing.

Nope, I saved it for posterity. --CharitwoTalk 21:51, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
