Used in quests
I really think this line should stay, even if the item isn't used in any quests, since it's some information people might be seeking when looking up an item. It's along the same lines as keeping the "Synthesis Recipes" and "Used in Recipes" sections, even if the item can't be crafted and isn't used in any synths; it's info that's so common, people expect to see it on a page, and the absense of it may make them think the page is incomplete. ~ Karuberu 23:11, 23 April 2007 (EDT)
Image not showing
I just uploaded two different versions of Image:Ubuginu Armor.jpg however they are not showing when you load the page or on its Ubuginu Armor page. Would you know why the image is not appearing. If you click on the date history links (14:40, 27 April 2007 and 14:35, 27 April 2007) they do appear there. Not sure why it's not loading so wondering if you could give some insight on that. Thanks! --Wayka 14:51, 27 April 2007 (EDT)
- Disregard, I tried it on Internet Explorer and it worked fine, so I looked into some settings on Firefox and found out why it was being blocked. Weird though it only blocked that one image and not other images. --Wayka 15:38, 27 April 2007 (EDT)

Krakens
I've seen the terms mantas, rays, krakens, sea monks, squids, and octopi used to describe this family, and SE has yet to really use an official name for the whole family except for the item Manta Skin but that might only apply to the "manta" mobs it drops from. I considered "krakens" to be the closest to an official name because Krakens are the most seen mobs in the family (I think), the "Kraken Club" item, the fact that they're based on the kraken, and the fact that Kraken is a recurring villain in the FF series. It's really up there for debate. However, I did a similar thing with "rocs, cactuars, flan" and I think a few others? Is that alright? I'm sure most people know what you mean when you say those, plus all cactuar/flan items have "cactuar" and "flan" in their name instead of "sabotender" and "black pudding". --Joped 16:40, 5 May 2007 (CDT)
EDIT: I did the same for morbols/malboro. Malboro is also used for items and is actually in the auto-translater. --Joped 16:41, 5 May 2007 (CDT)
Image Policy
Per the recent discussions between myself, Wayka, and Merlyn. Perhaps it would be a good idea to have the part about transparency to be a little more specific to include transparent images in general, not just ones that display players, zones, or obstructions. --Charitwo 12:50, 7 May 2007 (CDT)

Guide
A bit bitchy about it but I'm tired of people touching it: User talk:Wayka#Guide. Just so you know. The Main Page is categorized - the sub-pages do not need to be, otherwise my name/guide shows up too often in the guide section as previously discussed with the last person who tried to categorize it as such a year ago or less. Sub-pages that have a main page already categorized should not be categorized themself. --Nynaeve 07:10, 8 May 2007 (CDT)
- Please see my response at User talk:Nynaeve#Guide. Today's partial project I was going and adding categories from Special:Uncategorizedpages (not all are done but I will work on more later, it's getting late). Nynaeve jumped on my talk page immediately after with unprofessional comments about the issue and has left a few unprofessional comments on other pages too (as I mentioned on the link above). I didn't really appreciate the actions by the user, previous Jr.Admin or not. Thank you for your understanding. --Wayka 07:54, 8 May 2007 (CDT)
- Someone tried to categorize everything before and the conclusion that was made was that everything does NOT need to be categorized. I really do not care about that, that isn't my problem anymore - what I care about is people touching my Guide. I don't know if this was made a Written Policy yet, if it was than please direct me to it so I can post that instead of my normal bluntness - but the above user has been here for a while and should know to post a requested change to a Guide on the talk page first and not just make the change. If he did that I would have been nicer and responded that the Main Page is the guide not the subpages therefor they don't need categorization (a repeat discussion mind you). Being arrogant and thinking you know what is best for everything and just making a change rather than asking why this wasn't categorized in the first place esp knowing as noted above that I was a Jr Admin and would know what I am doing when making pages, is what resulted in my tone. It is my guide - I followed the rules when making it. Please, if anyone wants to change it for some reason - all they have to do is request/ask on my talk page. I would really appreciate that written policy would be made regarding this so that I don't have to get fustrated by other users assuming they know what is best for my work. --Nynaeve 08:18, 8 May 2007 (CDT)

- This is a message to both of you regarding announcements because I don't know if we (Gahoo, Gani or I) have ever actually stated this publicly before. I hate to be a jerk about it, but SE is extremely sensative about their announcements and one of the sticking points about FFXIclopedia being upgraded to premier status was the fact that their announcements could be edited by the general populace. As one of our concessions to SE, we agreed that nobody other than admins would be able to edit the official SE announcements. This is why all official announcements are locked, and should remain locked. Therefore, although I appreciate the initiative Charitwo took in getting this put in place, I'm going to ask that he not do so in the future and leave it to an admin. --User:Mierin/Sig 10:05, 29 May 2007 (CDT)

Mystic Weapon
It's not poorer quality, you can clearly see all 3 weapons floating above due to the image being brighter and the mob is displayed frontside as opposed to being at an angle. Also, another factor to me was the shadows of the weapons on the ground. --CharitwoTalk 07:48, 30 May 2007 (CDT)

Guild Points Value
Should the Guild Points Value line always be in place for any and all items? The item template does not say that if there is no value/cannot be traded for guild points that you should omit this, so this would lead me to think that it should always be there (so people would always know). Quest vs. Quests
Another question here before I begin my project (just want to make sure I get it right!). Under the How to Obtain section of any item that has it, if there is only one quest, should the section heading read "Quest" or simply always be "Quests?" Item Names/Effects/Stats
Okay, last bit of clarification I need here. On some item pages, I have noticed that the wikified name appears exactly as it does in the in-game description (i.e., Summoner's bracers +1, not Summoner's Bracers +1). Also, on several different item pages, those that have added effects and such also appear exactly as they do in the in-game description (i.e., Additional effect: Wind Damage, not Additional Effect: Wind Damage).
Now, normally, I've kept all words in item names capitalized but went straight from the game for the additional effects and related statistics. Which is the correct way? Straight from the game as the entire description appears or capitalize all words? I feel there must be a sense of consistency and would like to show that in my upcoming projects. Thanks. --Ksayyah 13:23, 6 June 2007 (CDT)
I was about to leave Ksayyah a message about not capitalizing every word in item effects, when I noticed that you had already left a message to the contrary. You said they should be capitalized like a book title, but, using that analogy, the effects would actually be the text of the book, with the item name being the title; why would you capitalize the text of a book like the title? I understand that the page names are named this way, but that's no reason for the text to be formatted this way (that's what the vertical seperator in links is for). If you'd like, I can bring this up on a public talk page instead of having it here. ~ Karuberu 14:57, 14 June 2007 (CDT)
Max Sell Price
Ok, so we're having problems already. I'm using "??? - <max> gil" when the max value is known. A "~" represents an approximation, which, optimally, we won't have on the wiki. I have max fame in San d'Oria (sell/buy prices haven't changed in a while, even though I haven't stopped doing quests), so I use the hard value indicator, "-", on the pages I add the max sell price to. For people that don't have max fame (or aren't sure), they can use your "~<max>" or "~<min> ~<max>". ~ Karuberu 18:14, 6 June 2007 (CDT)
The hard min could be known as well; a characater with 0 quests completed would get this value. However, I always use the approximation on minimums, since I don't have any characters without any quests completed. ~ Karuberu 18:23, 6 June 2007 (CDT)
By the way, the reason I haven't discussed this before is because it's a hard aspect to explain to new users, so I was hoping to leave it as a background issue until I could find a way to explain it without confusion. If you can think of a good way, I'd like to see it included in the guide, but I don't see it as a necessity. ~ Karuberu 18:42, 6 June 2007 (CDT)
Alright, no problem. I just want to make sure all the experienced editors are on the same page as well. An advanced section or subpage might help with explaining these more complex/minor issues, but again, not really a necessity. ~ Karuberu 18:49, 6 June 2007 (CDT)
Crest of Davoi: Mission/Key Item
[[Crest Of Davoi]] & Crest of Davoi both exist. The former being the Key Item and the latter the Quest. When you type in Crest of Davoi you of course reach the mission and the Key Item gets ignored. You might want to change the name of one of them, probably the Key Item to read something like Crest of Davoi (Key Item) and then do that thing at the top of both pages saying did you mean to reach whatever... Wanted to get your opinion on this. For the two mobs, Hydra and Illuyankas, it doesn't seem they belong in the Category:Dragons family or the Category:Wyrms family. Assault mobs of same name
I was curious of what you would think about this. In the Nyzul Isle Investigation, there are several mobs that pop on the floors of these places that are the exact same name of NMs in all areas of Vana'diel. Do you think that these mobs should have their own separate pages or be merged with the original NM page. The reason I ask is because most of the NM pages listed are specifically for information on the pops of the regular NM, along with strategies or other info. Adding these monsters would throw that completely off.
One suggestion I did (to test) would to be to create new pages for those NMs for the assault, and add (Nyzul Isle) to the end the mob names. For example, I created Jaggedy-Eared Jack (Nyzul Isle) as a separate page of Jaggedy-Eared Jack (see recent history). Tell me what you would think about this and go from there. --ЩåΫķẮ †Talk† 06:33, 14 June 2007 (CDT)
- Updated Jaggedy-Eared Jack article if you want to take a look. One opinion to look into though, would you want to add a different color in the Mob Colors Key that would be for mobs that appear in that assault mission so the difference can clearly be seen to avoid confusion? --ЩåΫķẮ †Talk† 14:14, 14 June 2007 (CDT)
NPC Format
While browsing through some NPC's, there are entire articles dedicated to the ones that wish to only provide gossip/meaningless/insightful chat with you. I was wondering, though it is a huge undertaking, if we could stub these articles and request users submit the actual NPC dialog? I think giving it more substance would better improve the article, as it seems like a waste of space to have only a picture and a location. Thoughts? -Cleric-yokiko 03:40, 15 June 2007 (CDT)

it should be up to the person or persons who are asking for these deletions to see them taken care of, in full, to the end. I am fully aware that I can make the changes myself (and please refrain from using the condescending attitude towards me in the future), but what I don't appreciate is that he is making sure to tell other people, and leaving myself out of the loop. If he has a personal vendetta against me, thats fine, but he is still breaking links, and he is supposed to be taking care of them, which he is not. I tried to leave a message asking for some reasoning or to make him aware that he is not helping, and instead of addressing the issue, he outright ignored my request and deleted its trace with another of his fake reversion notices. That is absolutely rude, wrong, and, in my opinion, one of the reasons he will never gain the administration status he so strongly desires from the ffxiclopedia. Warn me all you like, but he is the one causing problems. Perhaps a discussion with him is in order, or are you just going to allow him to come whining to anyone he pleases the second things don't go right for him? --TtOaXrIuCTC 07:56, 21 June 2007 (CDT)

Same with exclusive and temp icons. --ЩåΫķẮ †Talk† 13:23, 30 June 2007 (CDT)
I agree, which is why I protected it in the first place. I think Mierin thought I was doing it just because I could, I have a reason for everything I do. And more like thousands of pages :P --CharitwoTalk 13:44, 30 June 2007 (CDT)
Guide
I made a guide and would like it moved to the main namespace, it's tagged with the move template see [[User:Sharaa/DRG Guide|Here]]--Sharaa 01:07, 13 July 2007 (CDT)
Reminder
Its Friday the 13th, have you remembered to clean up your talk page today?
I heard its bad luck to have too much stuff not archived on this day... Yupyup - should get right on that. :D --User:Nynaeve/Sig 17:25, 13 July 2007 (CDT)
Away
FYI, I've told you already, but I won't be around until the 28th. Although the notice on my userspace is quite large and obvious, you know how dense some people are, please keep an eye on my talk page and remove anything added to it. P.S. You need not reply to this message ^^ --CharitwoTalk 00:42, 15 July 2007 (CDT)
