sorry about the sandbox thing, and the one with the bone chip was before the damage types. Ill fix up the whole damage types page eventually because its horribly broken

It's like 2 something in the morning where he is, so he's still asleep. Special:Listusers/staff is what you're looking for. --CharitwoTalk 21:20, 19 September 2007 (EDT)

Cairthenn

I didn't think he deserved a ban for his actions. He does have a history of good edits, and made one vandal post. I issued him a warning and he got it. Was there some other reason he should have an infinite ban? --FFXI-Mierin Talk / Contrib 23:17, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

Based on the two pages Char noted, it makes sense now. Okay, I agree with the decision. Thanks, both of you. --FFXI-Mierin Talk / Contrib 13:07, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

Hand-to-hand

Tested again, still don't work, yet similar articles with varying casing do. I'm guessing articles with dashes (-), etc are sensitive search-wise. --CharitwoTalk 05:32, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

MediaWiki Projects

Not really a project, just a mislink MediaWiki:Searchresulttext links to Help:FAQ instead of FFXIclopedia:Searching(which is probably outdated since the move), guessing it was reset after we adapted to Wikia's mediawiki version. --CharitwoTalk 01:34, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

Vandalism reports

Now that there are quite a few Admins added I had a suggestion to see if you would like. Before, most vandalism reports, mostly by me and Charitwo, were going on Gahoo's talk page but now since there are a few more admins, do you think there should be a page for it that all admins watch? Such as FFXIclopedia:Vandalism or something like that. Therefore it's in a single location so you and other admins can easily spot reports by others for it and take the appropriate action. What do you think? --ЩåΫķẮ †Talk† 19:26, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

Username Changed

Thanks for re-welcoming me, but I'm actually an existing member and my old username (Sigma) conflicted with Wikia's database. I requested a move from FFXI-Sigma to User:Eithin. I can log in with my new username, however my user page, talk page and contributions are still at User:FFXI-Sigma, although my subpages seem to have been moved to my new username. Can you resolve this or will I need to consult TOR about this? ----.Eithin//TC 17:14, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

Sourcing

Sourcing is for copyright attributions. Those references we have to Alla et al are for copyright reasons, so that the original creative author gets credit. We do not source simple game facts. Allowing them to source is like allowing users to brand images. We don't allow that. --FFXI-Mierin Talk / Contrib 16:48, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

New Template

I have been looking for a template to track Assault completed progress, and I'm not seeing one. Not sure what needs to be done to get the ball rolling on that. Thank you ^^

--aTTiLa t/ c 00:33, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I didn't know if someone made that a pet project or anything, I'd be glad to do it, just not sure on the formatting, I'll try to get it put together. Also, thanks about the sig, didn't even realize it O.o

--aTTiLa t/ c 01:27, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Just a follow up here, you wouldn't be able to link me to a formatting guide for templates would you? Ready and willing to make it, having an issue with my formatting. As in, it's not working.

GM only key items

I was just curious you recently deleted key items such as "All-You-Can-Ride Pass", "Dynamis Debugger", and "Replay Debugger" citing copyright violations, that they cannot be listed. I was just curious as to why. I did verify these are actual key items that are listed in the DATs. How would they be copyright violations compared to other items. --ЩåΫķẮ †Talk† 01:25, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Hehe never mind I saw your talk post. --ЩåΫķẮ †Talk† 01:29, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Template:Infobox NPC

Template:Infobox NPC seems to be a little screwed up, so it should probably be fixed before it's added to any more pages. I can fix the problem real quick (just need to change "float" to "align" in Template:FFXIbox), but, unfortunately, it would screw all up the pages you templated because of the breaks you used to mask the problem, and may cause some problems with other pages/templates that use Template:FFXIbox. If you think it's safe and wouldn't mind removing some breaks, I can make the change. ~ Karuberu 00:56, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I think having to use umpteen breaks is a fairly major problem (for a template). I just wanted the "go ahead" since I didn't even know Template:FFXIbox existed until recently. ~ Karuberu 01:10, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

Does Dabih Jajalioh look right? I didn't realize the template used several of the boxes like that (makes it slightly more complex); If it doesn't look right then just revert my changes and use the breaks like your were. Though I think it'd be better if the infobox wasn't used for notes/historical background, since those sections are pretty standard throughout the site. (Just got your message, but I'll send this anyways) ~ Karuberu 02:44, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

No offense, but that looks really ugly to me. I like the infobox with the NPC picture and everything, but the notes box looks terrible; it appears below the infobox and, because of that, makes the page much longer. I imagine it's supposed to appear alongside the infobox, but it doesn't for me (I'm on Firefox if that makes a difference). ~ Karuberu 03:10, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

I'll see what I can do, but I don't have time to mess with it right now. Though, honestly, the template should probably be split up into two or more smaller templates (an infobox, a template for the NPC info, and possibly another for the notes/historical background) or reduced to just the infobox and revert to normal formatting for the other info. The template is fairly complex at the moment, which is usually a recipe for disaster. ~ Karuberu 03:40, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

Done. Should work with both "float" and "align", though I mostly tested with "align". I also cleaned up the code and changed the headers in the template to faux headers to re-enable section editing. ~ Karuberu 14:42, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

The problem seems to be with Template:FFXIbox. Unfortunately, I don't know enough about how it works to get very far without screwing things up. Ganiman created it, so he can probably fix the problem for you. ~ Karuberu 03:44, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

Maybe just remove the boxes for the notes? I am not tied to them. --GAHOO t/ c 04:03, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
Edited Template:Test Infobox NPC to show what that would look like. I like it. ~ Karuberu 04:24, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

Template changes

Sorry to grab your attention this way, but I thought you might find this change useful (and I don't think anyone noticed the topic). ~ Karuberu 01:14, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Yeah just a proposal, I thought it was too big of a change to be done without discussion. ~ Karuberu 01:33, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

New Project

Sure, let me know what the project is.

I haven't been around much because I've just kind of been taking a break lately. I've been playing a couple of other games and reading a lot.

Plus, the communication from the top hasn't been so great lately. >.> I never hear anything from the admins. You and Charitwo especially seem to be running the entire show as far as editing goes. I never even saw anything about the new NPC template, just the multitude of changes you all have made. That's just the tip of the iceberg. For a while it seemed like every other day there was a new template being created, but there was no communication about them. I just had to figure it out on my own.

So, I guess I'm glad you've contacted me. It's nice to know that someone wonders or cares if I'm still here. --TECHNO-- Talk / Contrib 18:00, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Ok, I can handle that. I can probably do most of it without even going there. --TECHNO-- Talk / Contrib 19:50, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Drop Rate

Do you think a disclaimer should be put on the mob's page for the ones that use the drop rate template? At least maybe for a while until the results become more accurate. See User:Wayka/Sandbox for an example at what I was thinking of, or if you have any other ideas. --ЩåΫķẮ †Talk† 23:19, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Scholar/Copyright

How can I tell if there is copyright violation or not, if I don't know someone has obtained permission to copy verbatim Elmer the Pointy's translation or not? Which is why I asked... --FFXI-Itazura 13:03, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

You know what? I'll just let User:FFXI-Mierin and other admin types handle the investigation. I didn't write or copy that stuff, and rehabilitating the reputation of FFXIclopedia is not my responsibility. --FFXI-Itazura 21:30, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Nevermind; Elmer the Pointy has stated that it was a copyright violation, and have removed the offending material from the page. Since you're some sort of admin, maybe you (and not I, the nobody) should track down the fool who put up the material without securing the rights, and give him/her a good lecture. --FFXI-Itazura 21:36, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Is there a way I can talk to you or Mierin directly through IM or something? The FFXIclopedia chatrooms on IRC and Wikia are always empty. I tried to add my report and the forums banned me >_> Anyway I want to discuss about helping out. Elmer the Pointy 15:01, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

I took it off their website. I did look for some sort of copywrite permission or a request to take material but i couldn't find any one. So I saved the image and cropped to to remove as many of the names, and then left a description of who actually took the picture ( i gave the LS and the server credit). If this is a violation, it can be removed or i can go back to the site and try to find an email to ask for permission.(Yokhai 01:03, 8 November 2007 (UTC))

Not to stir the pot, only playing Devils Advocate, while i do respect that it was their pictures and yes it is nice press to comply with their wishes, if you look at the picture, no names are displayed, and i think they only way any one besides those that were there, or visit the website would have ever known who it was, was that i put LunariansLS on Bismark in the text of the picture. I guess they got upset that no one asked them, but there were no names displayed and it was a rather nice snapshot of Odin. /sigh I guess i'll have to wait till my LS decides to tackle tier III and then Odin for a good one.(Yokhai 01:29, 8 November 2007 (UTC))

Bat Trios

I changed it to Trios. Charitwo had missed the category (the changes were reverted for other reasons). ~ Karuberu

Morion Worm Drop Rates

Thanks for pointing that out. I actually meant to add one instead of subtract one, so it should have been 5 instead of 3. That made little difference, since I looked in the article's history and found that the tallies got screwed up in the last few days. I went ahead and corrected the drop rates based on the drops I tracked through the history. They should be correct now. Zohier 20:27, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

I have tried this. In preview I could see what I wanted (site to look like it used to without being squished to the left) but adds overlap the content..Tried applying that skin anyways..And pages still look like I didn't change skin at all..

I effing hate the new layout and the skins.

I need Wiki's help .

Dearest Admin Chrisjander ,

I am respectfully requesting FFXIclopedia's help in my Crusade against Square Enix's Complete Abandonment of Loyal Users , poor customer service practices and non-action against Account Hijacking for private use , RMT sale or further identity theft. While i have only One known Instance of Account Hijacking and Squares Unwillingness to assist in the rectification of the matter , i feel a Site as Easily Accessed and widely used as this would generate not only more proof of more Hijacking but also would generate enough 'Negitive feedback' to cause Square Enix to get off thier collective laurels and take responsiblity for something so obviously under thier control . As a fellow Adventurer i am sure you can understand the Crux of Some one Stealing a Very good friend's Account and Character information , especially after over 2 years of Investing the time and money to LV 9 Jobs to LV75 , meritting them , Equipping them with good gear then having it taken from them and Square not doin anything to help or assist in the matter . please feel free to contact me personally via Email summonermiku@hotmail.com . I would much preffer , if needed , to discuss this further in private via Email or Telephone .

not this old subject again...

PNG vs. JPG. Yes, beating a dead horse. I know. I found a couple images you had uploaded on top of some of my pngs for Crow Bracers (and other Crow Gear). They appeared to have jpeg artifacting. Not visible artifacting, but when PNG compression is considered, it becomes apparent in filesize. That said, I'm obviously not saying I object to you uploading images in png format, but if you have an image that is of a lossily compressed source, such as jpeg, there is little merit in attempting to convert it to png. I have seen some of the jpeg images you have uploaded. they seem to be of reasonable quality and filesize, unlike those that once plagued this site. --Pandora Xero Is Not A Bot 15:40, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

Nah. I'm not gonna worry about it too much anymore. we got worse things. I mean, look at Yoichinoyumi. Its been needing rep for one hell of a long time, and I'm about the only one with the know-how to get a pic of it without dathacking (or at least, without dathacking the pic), or getting the actual item, or seeing it on someone else. I'm not gonna worry about replacing any JPG images with png until this WotG mess is sorted out (I took care of all my own pics, btw), and after that, I need to work on reducing the size of Category:Replacements. --Pandora Xero Is Not A Bot 07:12, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

Category:Campaign Operations

I was curious to why all of these articles were moved? All of the quests are listed in the DATs and game with just (S), (B), or (W). I noticed you kept the redirects up but I was not seeing the reason for moving them as this is how they are named in game. --ЩåΫķẮ †Talk† 04:17, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

Ok thanks that makes sense, as long as the redirects stay they should be fine then. You may want to go ahead and create or move any of the other missing pages so you don't have to do them later if you prefer. Right now all of the quests go up to III in all 3 countries. --ЩåΫķẮ †Talk† 04:31, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for the fix on my page!

Hi, I wanted to say thank you and also ask a question about the change you made to my user page when I made a user checklist. Apparently, the checklist wasn't on a subpage... so, it's safe to assume I don't know how to set up a subpage. You did that for me, but I'd still like to know how you made it a sub page on my user page. Is there a link here on FFXIclopedia that would lead me to a place where I could learn how to do so? I really don't want to make the mistake of accidentally creating an entirely new article that isn't on a subpage within my user page. I knew that it was supposed to be on a user subpage, I just didn't know how to get it there and I wasn't finding any answers... anyways, thank you so much for your help! Have a good day ^^ Katami 16:03, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Okay, I understand how to create subpages now ^^ Thank you for your help! I was also wondering how to find the 'sandbox' that has been stated a few times on FFXIcylopedia. It has a link, but it leads to an outside source on a different wiki. Is this the right link for it? I don't think it is because, if I recall correctly, the link led to a form of beer making called 'sandbox' or something like that >.>""" lol. Any insight would once again be very appreciated! Bye bye! Katami 21:57, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

That's how you create a sandbox? That sounds so easy =P lol Thanks for the help again ^^ Katami 13:19, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

BCNM loot-groupings question/suggestion

I was wondering how/if it's possible to add a tiny button to every individual loot-group that would make it sort alphabetically and/or by drop rate % according to the droprate template? -Jawat 07:30, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Drop rate template

I'm wondering why the drop rate template isn't allowed to be used on area pages to show the drop rates of monsters in those areas. I know that when i'm thinking of going farming and looking for items to farm I prefer to check area pages rather than individual monster pages so I thought it would be a good idea. recent Category:Daggers changes

Back in early January I made a few edits to the dps/dmg ratings listed for the Mercurial Kris, Blau Dolch, and Heart Snatcher on the Category:Daggers page to reflect actual combat usage. While the page originally (correctly) contained the statistics for the daggers as listed in their item descriptions, my edits changed the statistics to what they become when people use them. For example, when using the Blau Dolch, the latent switches the base damage to 33 for TP < 100 and weaponskills. Editing the Category:Daggers article to use 33 instead of 26 for the base damage value allows people to more informatively sort the daggers listings to see what daggers suit them the most.

Two days ago user Hellstorm17 changed the base damage value of the Blau Dolch back to 26. I don't want to start an edit war, but I strongly believe the value should be 33 as in my edit. What are your thoughts?

(I left the same note on User talk:Divisortheory's page but apparently he isn't an active administrator...)

--Malizia 19:54, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Sandworm

Hi, you removed information from the Sandworm Article with an edit summary saying "removed redundant special attack information as it is listed on mob family". That is not true, the Sandworm has more Special Attacks than his mob family (Family 4, Sandworm 5), and the Attacks work a little bit different. Feeling ridiculous for saying this to an admin, but removing information should be discussed before doing so on the article's talk page. For which I had made a section already. --Elvaron 13:17, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

Ok, wasnt meant personally. I just noticed there was a mistake and thought to give you the chance to fix it the way you thing is appropriate :) --Elvaron 17:40, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

Alchemy revamp

Ugh... that's ugly... I don't like it at all. The seperate recipe pages is especially bad. They split nicely into increments of 10, but you won't be synthing that way; you need to be able to see a full list. The color scheme is also bad... I really don't like the direction FFXIclopedia is heading with these color schemes. ~ Karuberu 03:10, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

I don't check the forums, since they're too chaotic (I don't have a ton of time to sift through threads) and because all changes (except overall site changes) are supposed to be discussed on the talk pages prior to being implemented. I'm just pissed off because I really liked FFXIclopedia before all these look-and-feel changes. FFXIclopedia is driting too far from it's original intent as an FFXI encyclopedia; it's supposed to be function first, then look, not the other way around.

Anyways, I'd be ok with the recipes being on another page (I think I mentioned this in response to an earlier comment by Gahoo), but I don't like them being split up like that, and I think any other synther would agree with me. ~ Karuberu 03:44, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

When I craft, I don't buy ingredients, I synth them. I use the craft tables to quickly browse through what I'll need without having to go to specific pages. With this change, I'll have to have several pages open to do that. I guess most people don't do things that way, but I know I'm not the only one that hates having thier craft tables divided up on several pages.

Nevertheless, it's obvious that nothing's going to change from my arguement, so I'll give up now and save some energy. I'll just go to ffxiah or somepage and try not to look at FFXIclopedia's craft pages. ~ Karuberu 04:36, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

I'd like to see the pages reverted to thier old format, but I know from experience that it's nearly impossible to get anything visual changed or reverted unless the admins are for it. That's why I was going to give up, not because of the tables, which was only one of my complaints. (I need to stop writing when I'm angry/irritated; I can't even express my thoughts correctly)

Anyways, an "All Recipes" page would be appreciated. Really, having both a complete list and several divided by rank is the best way to do it (people with slower computers or connections are happy, and people like me are happy). It could lead to the pages becoming inconsistent (unless we could transclude each rank page to the "All Recipes" page), but I guess that's just the way things are. ~ Karuberu 05:37, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

I was just coming on to suggest an all recipes list too. This seems like a great compromise. --GAHOO t/ c 12:29, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
Fixed the all recipe inclusion issue in woodworking by using the noinclude tags on the various rank subpages and adding the ToC to the all recipe page. Take a look. Didn't have time to do it on the others. --GAHOO t/ c 18:36, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
