Intro

First I want it to be known I take no credit for the information collected in the guides Beastmaster_Solo_Leveling_Guide and Beastmaster Viable Hunting Grounds other than what I have contributed myself. Both guides hold an immense amount of information and to those that took the time to compile that information, we greatly appreciated all your hard work.

Issues

  • Beastmaster Viable Hunting Grounds
    • The sheer size of this guide is incredibly large.
      • The length is due mainly to the amount of camps there are throughout Vana'diel
    • Looking at multiple camp sites requires you to flip flop to the Article page and Discussion page
      • Portions of the camp information is on the Main page
      • Portions of the camp information is on the Discussion page
    • Both sides are extremely messy and unorganized

  • Beastmaster_Solo_Leveling_Guide
    • Much more clean and organized but
      • Has a lot of white space
      • Text squeezed into a small space
      • Notes on both become extremely long

Guide Elements

These are the elements I focused on during reformatting and some additional information I feel will aid current and future Beastmasters.

Formatting

  • The orange and blue color palette adds better visual division of each section
    • While that double blue can cause you to lose where you left off
    • Colors are taken from the monster template within the Bestiary
  • Tables that interact with the TOC are manually re-sized to fit next to the TOC
  • Optimization of horizontal space for 1024 x 768 resolution desktops
  • Camp sub-section links need to be a different palette

Pets and Prey lists

  • Additional information added to aid a Beastmaster's hunt
    • Organized by level ranges
    • Ecosystems are included to give quick reference of pet vs prey strength and weaknesses
    • Aggression modes to aid gauging a camp's danger level

Camp Discussion link

  • Keeping all information about the camps on the discussion page allows those who want to contribute their strategies will know exactly where to post
  • The use of anchors will give a user a link to the exact camp discussion without having to search for it in the TOC
  • Each discussion section will have a redirect to that discussion's corresponding camp section
  • This will allow for smooth navigation to and from each camp section and camp discussion

Other thoughts

  • Placement of Monster notes?

A = Aggressive; L = Links; S = Detects by Sight; H = Detects by Sound; HP = Detects Low HP; M = Detects Magic; R = Detects Resting; Sc = Follows by Scent; T(S) = True-sight; T(H) = True-hearing; JA = Detects job abilities; WS = Detects weaponskills; Z(D) = Asleep in Daytime; Z(N) = Asleep at Nighttime

    • Make Notes into links to reference page of each attribute
  • I do want to know if those that have contributed their experiences to the guides if they would be in any way hurt or feel any disrespect if I reword what has been added IF it is a lengthy description?

Camp Sections 1-20: Progress and changes

Looking at the level 1-20 sections of both Beastmaster_Solo_Leveling_Guide and Beastmaster Viable Hunting Grounds there are inconsistencies of the minimum and maximum level for each camp. When we combine both guides we get this:

1-10 Starting Areas (BSL)

8-13 Tahrongi Canyon (BSL)
10-16: Tahrongi Canyon (BVHG)

9-11 Konschtat Highlands (BSL)

9-14 La Theine Plateau (BSL)
10-15: La Theine Plateau (BVHG)

11-14 Konschtat Highlands (BSL)
10-14: Konschtat Highlands (BVHG)

10-25: West Sarutabaruta_S (BVHG)

12-14: Dangruf Wadi (BVHG)

12-16 Inner Horutoto Ruins (BSL)
12-16: Inner Horutoto Ruins (BVHG)

14-16 Tahrongi Canyon (BSL)

15-17: Meriphataud Mountains (BVHG)
18-22 Meriphataud Mountains (BSL)

15-18 Valkurm Dunes (BSL)
15-19: Valkurm Dunes (BVHG)

15-18 Buburimu Peninsula (BSL)
17-19: Buburimu Peninsula (BVHG)

15-20 Pashhow Marshlands (BSL)

17-20 Jugner Forest (BSL)
19-25 Jugner Forest (BSL)
15; 19: Jugner Forest (BVHG)

18-21 Maze of Shakhrami (BSL)
16-19: Maze of Shakhrami (BVHG)

18-21 Ordelle's Caves (BSL)
16-19: Ordelle's Caves (BVHG)

I'm sure the level ranges for each camp, from each guide will vary all the way to the end of both guides. I will try to judge when one should attempt to go to the camp in question based on the lowest pet's level for that given camp; basically making sure there are pets that will check as a Decent Challenge or Even Matches - Tough that can be converted. There were times when I would get to a camp and not be able keep a pet or have enough pets I could hold to pet swap for the camp's VT prey because I wasn't at the right level to hold my charmed pets.

Knowing when to leave a camp can be a toss up between a person's ability to acquire exp as fast or faster then they could if they were to go to a higher level camp with stronger prey. There are some camps that once you hit a certain level you just have to leave for another because the amount of exp from your prey isn't worth the time it takes to take it down.
