Notes

• As of the December 18, 2006 Update, the Valor Surcoat now correctly displays its defense value as 55.
• Historically, the stats on Valor Surcoat were "mistranslated". The amount of defense it grants is actually 55, not 51, as can be seen on the Japanese client and the players defense value from equipping it. The previous in game image as of 15 September 2006 still showed as DEF 51 until SE made the necessary corrections.

Historical Background

A surcoat was an outer garment commonly worn in the Middle Ages by both men and women. It can either refer to a coat worn over other garments or the outer garment of a person. The name derives from French meaning "over the cotta", a long, wide coat reaching down to the feet without sleeves.
