The mission will not be available until after you amass a certain number of Rank Points obtained by trading stacks of crystals of any type to any of the War Warlock's (character with the initials W.W. after their name) located at the city gates. Trading 9 earth (or similar) crystals (not 9 stacks, just 9) will unlock the mission.

The mission does not unlock from the same W.W. you traded the stack of crystals from. Speak to the TaruTaru (or Mithra) on the opposite side to unlock the mission.

After accepting the Mission, talk to Tosuka-Porika at G-8 in the Optistery in the northern portion of Windurst Waters. Tosuka-Porika will be in the east wing of the Optistery.

Note It is recommended that you talk to Hariga-Origa and start the Glyph Hanger quest for the Map of the Horutoto Ruins, if you have not done so already.

Then go outside the Optistery and down the stairs. Take the warp from Tonana (G-8) to Windurst Woods and go see Nanaa Mihgo at J-3. Obtain Key Item: Lapis Monocle.

Purchase some Prism Powders and Silent Oils or have Sneak and Invisible available for the next part. It is recommended to obtain an Instant Warp scroll as well, provided your Home Point is in Windurst.

The Maze

Maze of Shakhrami Upper

Maze of Shakhrami Lower

Continue to the Maze of Shakhrami, which can be found at the very Northeast corner of Tahrongi Canyon (K-5).

Once inside, go to G-6 on the upper map and take the right tunnel to get to lower map.

There are several aggressive mobs on the way, Goblins which detect by sight and Maze Scorpions and Ghouls which detect by sound. Once in fossil room, the active mobs all detect on sound only. You'll need to cancel your Invisible to examine the Fossil Rock, but you can keep Sneak.

Head to H-5 on the lower map

There are four Fossil Rocks in this room. There are also two Fossil Rocks in the large room on the same map at I-8.

Locations (All second/lower map): G-5, H-4, 2x H-5, F-8, 2x I-8

Examine a Fossil Rock and get key item Lapis Coral.

There are 5 Fossil Rocks to examine, one will give you the Lapis Coral.
FYI Only: Ichorous Ire is spawned by clicking on the Fossil Rock at (F-8) in Maze of Shakhrami second map, No need to kill this NM for this mission.

Once you have received the Lapis Coral, head back to Nanaa Mihgo in Windurst Woods (J-3) to receive key item Hideout key.

Note: It is recommended that you do Making Headlines in conjunction with this mission.

Head to the Lily Tower in East Sarutabaruta at J-7.
Go to the northwest corner of the ring-shaped room at G-8 and into the room with the Ancient Magical Gizmo. There is a cracked wall there; go through the cracked wall.
Walking through the cracked wall will take you to a new map of Beetle's Burrow at K-7.
Go Southwest - there are two paths, take either one of them, as they both converge at I-9.
At I-9, take the West tunnel at the 3-way intersection. Follow the tunnel Northwest - again, take either path, as both converge. Note that this area will not show on the map if you go to check it meaning whenever you are going to this area, the last part will show your character walking out of the boundaries.
Enter the Mahogany Door.

After the cut scene, head to the House of the Hero in Windurst Walls (G-3). After the cut scene, go back to Tosuka-Porika to finish the mission.

Mission Orders: There are reports that the Cat Burglar has her paws on a "Book of the Gods," a restricted book that was lost twenty years ago. Assist the Opistery in investigating the reports, and attempt to retrieve the priceless, but dangerous, tome.

Tosuka-Porika is looking at a book sitting on a slanted desk. Tosuka-Porika: Hrm. Hrmmm... Hrrrmmmmmmm..hrm! He turns around and sees you looking at him. Tosuka-Porika: ...Hrm!? Sorry about that. I was just thinking... I'm facing my first crisis since taking over as Minister of the Optistery here... .....Hrm? By the way, who in the stars are you? Wha-wha-what? You're the adventurer sent here to help from the gatehouse? Well then, let me explain. Hrmmm..... Where do I start? The minister waves his hand towards the shelves of books. You look over at the numerous tombs housed in the Optistery. Tosuka-Porika: Firstly, do you know the role of the Optistery's Library of Magic? This is a repository for the storage and preservation of innumerable scrolls and books, from ages long past right up to the present. The most important role of our librarians is to consign our entrusted writings to posterity, without ever losing a single one of them. Why, even during that terrible war twenty years ago, we were able to protect almost all of the books. But the restricted books section is another matter. Restricted books are never allowed to be taken out of the Library of Magic, and are normally sealed away in a special room. Manuscripts, life-threateningly dangerous to those weak in magical power... Books of the dark arts, not to be viewed by mortal eyes... Ancient scrolls not even the Minister of the Optistery is allowed to open... All of which are writings that, if taken outside, would cause great calamity. However, one very important book disappeared during the war twenty years ago, and has never been seen since. But recently, I received word that said book had fallen into the dirty paws of that outrageous Cat Burglar who inhabits Windurst Woods. Although the source of this information is dubious, the possibility that she has that book is a matter of great consequence. That's where you come in... I want you to go meet that so-called "Cat Burglar" and confirm whether or not she possesses any of our restricted books. The Optistery must retrieve any restricted books back as soon as possible, and at any cost. We are counting on you!	TBA

You walk toward a table in the center of Nanaa Mihgo's hideout. Shortly, the door opens. Nanaa Mihgo and her henchwomen, Bopa Greso and Cha Lebagta, walk in behind you. (Music: Despair) Nanaa Mihgo: Ha ha ha hah... Nanaa Mihgo: Thank you for kindly coming all this way to carry out our little transaction. Nanaa Mihgo: This is what you're going to do... Drrrop all the money and equipment you have on you, then get the hell out of here. Bopa Greso: Heh heh heh... Don't tell us this is yourrr first lesson in the school of hard knocks now, little girrrl? Cha Lebagta: Hah! Perrrhaps you should consider this as your tuition fee? You see, we intended to use that book as bait...to lurrre unsuspecting do-gooders like yourself into our little trap. Nanaa Mihgo: Hurry up and drop all yourrr belongings! You don't want to keep me waiting! The sound of the hideout's door opening is heard. Nanaa Mihgo: Huh...? The Ace of Cups, Ace of Batons, and Ace of Swords enter. Ace of Cups: The extinguished magic is our lord! Ace of Batons: The slumbering strength is our ruler! Ace of Swords: We have found you, Mithra! Return the lifeforce of our leader back to us! Cha Lebagta: Grrr... This is bad! Bopa Greso: What do we do, Top Cat? We can't take on three Ace Carrrdians and expect to live! Ace of Cups: You tricked us... You stole from us... Many important things, you did! Ace of Batons: They were out lord's belongings! They were our ruler's possessions! Ace of Swords: It is not permissible for living folls such as you to take the property of the deceased...! Ace of Swords: So, Mithra... Tell us where you hid our ruler's belongings! If you do not want to join him in death, then you had best speak the truth! Nanaa Mihgo: Alrrright, I'll tell you then... All you wish to know is their wherrreabouts, right? Nanaa Mihgo: The boxes you seek are hidden in the old summoner's rrresidence in Windurst Walls...the "House of the Hero." Nanaa Mihgo: Now that I've told you, you can stop chasing us around, alrrright? Ace of Cups: ...... Ace of Batons: ...... Ace of Swords: ...... You appear to be telling the truth. Nanaa Mihgo: Of course I'm telling the trrruth. I know only too well that you Carrrdians can detect when someone is lying! Ace of Swords: Then you also know that we are incapable of lying as well. They raise their weapons. Ace of Cups: We will be returning to town... After we have silenced you forever! Nanaa Mihgo: Why, you double-crrrossing... A large fire spell effect appears in the air over the Ace of Cups, who falls to the ground as Ajido-Marujido walks in. Ajido-Marujido: This time you've gone too far! Ajido-Marujido: When you cannot lie, you must value your words as much as your life! Ace of Swords: It is the Minister of the Orastery...! Ajido-Marujido...! Ajido-Marujido: So, "Cardians of the Dark," you have already investigatarued me, have you? Dare I ask what evil enterprise you are planning? Ajido-Marujido: Don'taru tell me that you are after the forbidden magic as well? That couldn't possibly be true, could it? Ace of Swords: ...... The two remaining Cardians leave. Ajido-Marujido: Humph. They cannot lie, but they can keep their silence! I underestimatarued them! (He turns to the Mithra thieves.) Ajido-Marujido: So, now I see... You stole that book from our Cardian friends there, eh? Ajido-Marujido: But to hide it and your other spoils right under our noses in ol' Karaha-Baruha's residence...? I guess you could say the darkestaru place is always under the candlestick. Ajido-Marujido: You can leave the rest to me. Give me the key to the "House of the Hero." I'm talking about Karaha-Baruha's ring. I know you've gotaru it! Nanaa Mihgo: You know that the second you lay hands on those boxes, the Carrrdians are going to go after you, don't you? Nanaa Mihgo: Well, I suppose if it means an end to being tailed by those crrreepy Carrrdians and you, my pesky little man, then it is a small prrrice to pay. Nanaa hands Ajido the ring, and Ajido walks away. Ajido-Marujido: You have the gall to think I enjoy playing cat and mouse, running around after you, do you? Really, now...? (He pauses and turns back.) Ajido-Marujido: As for you, adventurer, you had better get out of here while you still can. Otherwise, you'll have a cat in hell's chance of escaping with your belongings intact. Ajido-Marujido: Next stop, ol' Karaha-Baruha's residence! I had better hurry back to Windurst Walls before it's too late...
Lost for Words - Windurst Walls, House of the Hero
Ajido-Marujido is looking at something at the back corner of the house. (Music: Anxiety) Ajido-Marujido: This is it! Now I can finally make some progress with my plan! You enter the house, clearly startling Ajido-Marujido. He approaches you. Ajido-Marujido: !!! Whoa! A curious one, you are. Whattaru? Did you follow me all the way here? You explain your reason for being there. Ajido-Marujido: You're on a mission for the Optistery? Oh, so you're the foolhardy adventurer who took that one. Do you really think that the Book of the Gods could actually fall into the hands of that petty Cat Burglar? This is no Book of the Gods. It's just a work of the famous Karaha-Baruha... He opens the book and jumps at what he sees. Ajido-Marujido: The pages...they're blank...! It can'taru be... The time for the Book of the Gods to lose its magic has come... You! You must hurry back to the Optistery! Tell Tosuka-Porika that the pages of the Book of the Gods have turned blank. Tell him the Book of the Gods is no more! Ajido quickly runs out of the house with the book in hand.	TBA

Tosuka-Porika is standing where you found him before. Tosuka-Porika: Hrmm!? Oh, you're finally back! How did it go? Did that so-called Mithran "Cat Burglar" really have her paws on one of our restricted books? You explain to Tosuka all that happened between the Cat Burglar and Ajido-Marujido. Tosuka-Porika: ...Wha-wha-wha-what!? Preposterous! The Book of the Gods...!? No...! The time for the Book of the Gods to lose its magic has come...!? Wha...!? It's said that when the Book of the Gods loses its magic power and returns to blank pages, the shadows of destruction will set upon our world... Tosuka-Porika: Hrm! Really, how could such a fearful thing happen!? Ajido-Marujido! I bet you wanted the Book of the Gods so badly that you came up with this preposterous lie. Hrmmm... Don't you worry about Ajido-Marujido! I'll report him to the Star Sibyl myself. And as for you, adventurer. I must warn you to forget this ever happened! You understand?	TBA
